When we exhibited at HavExpo in 2024, we had one robot, a small team and our first commercial delivery just around the corner. Two years later, we have signed contracts for 24 robots, we regularly work on site with some of the largest players in the aquaculture industry, and we recently delivered our first robot outside Norway.
"In 2024, we came to HavExpo with one robot and a lot of hope. In 2026, we're coming with references, experience and proof that this works," says Jan Fredrik Gjerstad, CCO at EasyX
From trade show to first assignment in 24 hours
Behind the scenes at HavExpo 2024, things were pretty hectic. The day after the show, we were due to carry out our first commercial cleaning job for a customer. With only four employees, our days were split between the stand and the workshop, and our nights were spent getting the robot ready.
"It wasn't a demo or a test. It was a real job that had to be delivered. It felt like a defining moment for us," says the team.
The job was completed.

From one delivery to 24 contracts
Things have moved quickly since then.
We went from one demanding first delivery to:
- 24 signed contracts
- Regular operations on site with customers
- Deliveries to companies such as Mowi, SalMar, Lerøy, and Andfjord Salmon
- Our first international delivery, to Laxey in Vestmannaeyajar, Iceland
"Gradually, things started to gain momentum. We've learned an enormous amount, especially out in the field with the fish farmers," the company says.
Technological development in practice
Our experience in the field has led to clear improvements to the product.
Cleaning one large tank used to take a full day. The same job can now be done in around an hour. This gives fish farmers very short downtime between batches and better utilisation of their facilities.
At the same time, there is less need for staff to be exposed to working at height, chemicals and heavy, repetitive work. Optimised nozzle distance and angle also ensure consistent cleaning quality throughout the entire tank.
The result is the xAQ-1 as it stands today:
- Reduced downtime allows some facilities to increase operating capacity by 6–11% compared with manual cleaning
- Significantly less need for working at height, exposure to chemicals and heavy, repetitive work
- Greater job satisfaction and a safer working day for employees
- High repeatability – the robot delivers consistent cleaning quality throughout the entire tank
In short: a robust, efficient and user-friendly system, developed in close collaboration with fish farmers.
Growing interest
We're noticing that more and more people are paying attention – both to what we're doing today and to where this could be applied in the future.
